Patient Information - MASSAGE THERAPY
There are many benefits to therapeutic massage, including decreased stress, increased circulation and flexibility, and an overall general sense of feeling better! Massage can reduce stress, alleviate depression, reduce pain, boost the immune system, and can even help pre-mature babies catch up in their development. Massage is one of the best-known remedies for stress. Reducing stress gives you more energy and improves your outlook on life. Massage can also relieve many types of muscle tightness, from a short-term muscle cramp to chronically tight neck and shoulders. Some massage techniques release tension directly by stretching and kneading your muscles, while other kinds stimulate your nervous system, allowing your body to relax. Many types of massage are available here are Stone Family Chiropractic Center. We offer chair massage, sports massage, deep tissue massage, neuromuscular massage, prenatal massage, and post partum massage. Find out more about these below. We hope to hear from you to schedule an appointment with our massage therapists C.J. Howe and Ashley Wilson.
A chair massage is a brief five to ten minute massage in which you are fully clothed. Chair massages are done in a special portable chair designed to relax you while you are sitting down. What is Deep Tissue Massage? Deep tissue massage is designed to reach the deep portions of the thick muscle fibers. Its purpose is to loosen the fibers of the muscles and release both toxins and deeply held patterns of tension. What is Sports Massage? Sports massage is also designed to reach the deep portions of muscle fibers and to allow an athlete to perform better, both before and after competition. Its purpose is to loosen muscle fibers and release toxins, which can help an athlete recover faster after a hard workout. Sports massage prior to competition can rub out tension and knots, allowing the athlete to go into their performance with less muscle stress and strain. What is Neuromuscular Massage? Neuromuscular massage utilizes specific massage therapy including pressure of trigger points to recover from acute and chronic pain syndromes. This approach brings about a balance between the musculoskeletal and nervous systems. It enhances the functions of joints, muscles, and movement. What is Pregnancy Massage? Pregnancy massage relieves tensions and aches caused by the extra weight and shift in the center of gravity to the body, but it reduces swelling, soothes the nervous system, acts as a tonic, reduces fatigue, and enhances energy. Recent medical journals have published positive results from prenatal massage: reduced stress hormone levels, better sleep, less back pain, fewer complications in labor, and lower rates of postnatal complications.
